boys and their toys aka men...

John has been traveling now for his job and I "mentioned" to him that it would be probably a good idea for him to get an ear piece for his phone for safety. Well he got home last night and apparently he made sure he got to the phone store before coming home to get one. Now if if I mention about cleaning the garage or finally finishing some painting projects he becomes deaf. It is amazing to me how excited they get"men" about these electronic toys oops I mean vital tools in which to perform his work and provide a safe driving environment on the road. I could tell he is feeling guilty about the $90.00 he spent on this vital tool because he called me at work to let me know that he feels that it is vital that I have one too! No thanks. I don't like to be on the phone and I hate things on my ears. Well I should be grateful that he is not techno savvy!!! All though I did see him eyeing the HD TV's at Sams.........

Can't be Mad

This morning was the usual rush to get Parker to school on time. I'll admit most of the time it is my fault because I like to sleep in (never a morning person). Anyway he has always been used to us being able to take our time because I don't start work until 10:00 a.m.. Well this morning we rushing as usual and I was forced to dress him to save time.... all you moms know what I mean anyway I was getting extremely fustrated with him because he was being a slow poke and obessing over this star toy and then he did it. He extended the string on the star to make a one string guitar and started singing " I love my mommy, she is so sweet, she gives me kisses and hugs..... at this point my heart is melting and my baby boy can do no wrong. Who needs to be on time anyway!!! Keep singing my boy ......

Allison is Going To College!!!

Well we got our acceptance letter from North Georgia Military College. They have accepted Allison providing she get her ACT score in within 30 days(I already faxed it). She got great ACT scores so everything will be great. Now we are trying to secure ROTC scholarship money. The school drags thier feet about transcipts. I guess I might have to go up thier and pull my ghetto momma on them.....I think it will be a BIG adjustment for my little closet princess. NO TV, no extra bedding i.e. down comforter, and additional pillows..Yikes!!! Valentimes Day is next week, and frankly I don't have a clue.. Any suggestions?? I guess I've gotten to old and tired.

ROTC Ball Queen

Last night was the ROTC ball and Allison was crowned Queen for Northside High School. She was sooooo beautiful. We spent the day (after I left work) at hair, make-up, and buying those last minute items. It came together beautifully. She looked so great. I think she was the prettiest there, but there again I am biased.

New Beginnings

Last night was New Beginnings for Young Women. It was a very nice evening in which the new girls who just turned 12 and thier parents are introduced to the YW program. Devin was asked to give a speech on personal progress. I felt this was great since I have made it mine and Devin's goal that she must complete a certain amount of values before being able to get a drivers permit. I knew that this would motivate her. I let this wonderful program get by me with Allison and she has yet to get her YW medallion. I know it is only jewelry, but it symbolizes so much more.

Goodbye

Last night the President Hinkley died. At first it seemed surreal and yet I knew it was true. I found myself at real peace with it. I know that he is with his beloved wife and they are together in such a beautiful place, that I cannot comprehend it. I know with all my heart, that he was a true prophet of God, and he was given divine inspiration to lead and guide us.
President Hinkley made you feel like you were good friends even though I was never blessed to meet him. He seemed like the Grandpa you would always want. One of the things I always admired about him was his humblness. Here this man had great wisdom, but never made you feel dumb or stupid. I hope to one day see his smiling face again. I aspire to be half the person he was, then I feel I would be doing alright. We will miss him and hopefully we will look at his wise counsel and if we are not living it, then we will take head and follow his wonderful example.

One down, five more to go

Last night, I was sitting at the kitchen table doing my never ending homework and the funniest thing happened. John was also at the table eating soup and Devin was doing something. She scooted the chair back to put an item in the garbage can and I heard it.... the chair cracking....this chair is usually occupied by John. Then it blam!!!! Devin was on the floor!!! The chair leg broke!! These chairs are older and we have been babying them along, but this one was a gonner. Devin was alright and we laughed so hard I think I tinkled myself, but I'm glad "big daddy" wasn't sitting in it. Yikes!! I can already see the ace bandages, tylenol and the ever present aches & pains increasing. Well it all ended well. Today when she asked for Taco Bell, I told her to remember the chair........ she gave me an evil look..LOL!!
