New Beginnings

Last night was New Beginnings for Young Women. It was a very nice evening in which the new girls who just turned 12 and thier parents are introduced to the YW program. Devin was asked to give a speech on personal progress. I felt this was great since I have made it mine and Devin's goal that she must complete a certain amount of values before being able to get a drivers permit. I knew that this would motivate her. I let this wonderful program get by me with Allison and she has yet to get her YW medallion. I know it is only jewelry, but it symbolizes so much more.

Goodbye

Last night the President Hinkley died. At first it seemed surreal and yet I knew it was true. I found myself at real peace with it. I know that he is with his beloved wife and they are together in such a beautiful place, that I cannot comprehend it. I know with all my heart, that he was a true prophet of God, and he was given divine inspiration to lead and guide us.
President Hinkley made you feel like you were good friends even though I was never blessed to meet him. He seemed like the Grandpa you would always want. One of the things I always admired about him was his humblness. Here this man had great wisdom, but never made you feel dumb or stupid. I hope to one day see his smiling face again. I aspire to be half the person he was, then I feel I would be doing alright. We will miss him and hopefully we will look at his wise counsel and if we are not living it, then we will take head and follow his wonderful example.

One down, five more to go

Last night, I was sitting at the kitchen table doing my never ending homework and the funniest thing happened. John was also at the table eating soup and Devin was doing something. She scooted the chair back to put an item in the garbage can and I heard it.... the chair cracking....this chair is usually occupied by John. Then it blam!!!! Devin was on the floor!!! The chair leg broke!! These chairs are older and we have been babying them along, but this one was a gonner. Devin was alright and we laughed so hard I think I tinkled myself, but I'm glad "big daddy" wasn't sitting in it. Yikes!! I can already see the ace bandages, tylenol and the ever present aches & pains increasing. Well it all ended well. Today when she asked for Taco Bell, I told her to remember the chair........ she gave me an evil look..LOL!!

Growing Up

Allison was selected to be the Queen of the military ball for Northside High School. We are very excited for her. The dance is Feb. 2nd and of course we had to get a dress right away. Here are couple of choices, but ultimately we deceided on none of them... i love the green dress, but it got a little "drafty"if you know what I mean..LOL!

100 Days of School!

Most days Parker is relucant to go to school. He would rather snuggle in the bed with mommy in the morning and sit around in his underware all day, but today was different. First of all it was the 100th day of school and there was going to be all sorts of fun activities to do. Secondly he loves to bring snack for all the other children. We got scheduled to bring to snack today!!! When I picked him up today he had made this wonderful hat for the occassion. Isn't he handsome!!!! He wanted Tara and Reese to see him in the hat. Love you guys!!

tired of hearing about Brittney!!

How many of us really care that brittney spears wore her wedding dress shopping at Macy's?? I know I don't. It shows how really low our entertainment level is... Why can't they actually come up with some actually entertainment?? I would have rather done the laundry, but I was rocking a baby to sleep and was trapped in the recliner. I would rather let my mind be sucked of all intellgent thinking than wake a sleeping baby. My dad is volunteering at the Bob Hope Golf Classic this week so if you see a tall, good looking guy, a little middle aged holding back the crowds.....thats him!!!

A New Semester

Well I started my new semester today. Yikes!!!! Everything is on the computer. I'm on a hybrid computer class and didn't realize it was. Even my math homework must be completed on the computer. Boy, I am old :( John started a new position at his company starting the first of the year in sales. He even has an email account, but he drives me crazy asking me to get him on the internet. I'm afraid he will "accidently" hurt my new laptop, that he got me for Christmas. Hey wait a minute this was my gift... or was there a secret motive for this gift??? He is a lot craftier than people give him credit for. LOL!!

Father and Son

The first saturday of the month I have to work, its a real drag, but John and Parker got to spend some father & son time together. They went to the local waffle house and indulged in a generous helping of fat. Parker insisted that they sit next to each other. I thought he was a momma's boy, but lately he seems to only have eyes for daddy. John is an excellent dad. I couldn't of picked a better father for my son.

The Holidays are finally over!!!

Well it is almost back to school time for me and the kids. Yipee!!! Don't get me wrong, I love it when they are out of school for the basic fact that I can sleep in. The only drawback is they usually sit around all day waiting for me to get off work and once I walk in the door the ponce. They are bored of being at home and expect me to entertain them. Tara and Reese left yesterday and I already miss them. I miss seeing that cute little smile in the morning. We are putting the house back together from are little dynamo.
